MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – OSCE PA Special Representative for Eastern Europe Kent Harstedt said he has a warm regard for Belarus and its people as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 23 January, BelTA informs.
“I am happy to visit Belarus once again. You probably know that the first time I came here was around 25 years ago. I have visited the country in different capacities: first as a young student, then as a UNICEF representative, and then as an OSCE representative. I think I will continue to come back here in the future, too. I have to admit that I have a warm regard for your country and your people,” Kent Harstedt remarked.
He thanked the Belarusian president for the successful organization of the OSCE PA Annual Summer Session in Minsk in July 2017. “It was a wonderful event which produced very good results for all of us. I was actively involved in the process and I am glad to see that Belarus kept every promise it made. There were some people who had doubts, but life showed that the decision to hold the event here in Minsk was right,” Kent Harstedt said.
