MOLODECHNO, 29 November (BelTA) - The twinning relations between Belarus and Poland are very important for the development of comprehensive cooperation, especially regional ties, reads a message of greetings from Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei to the participants of the fifth meeting of the twin cities of Belarus and Poland in Molodechno, BelTA has learned .
“The development of good-neighborly relations between our countries is impossible without fruitful cooperation at the regional and local levels,” the minister said. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your services to mutually beneficial and constructive ties between the two states,” he noted
Almost 90 Belarusian and Polish cities and towns maintain twinning relations and cooperate, Vladimir Makei noted. This figure increases every year. Sister cities have implemented many mutually beneficial projects in economy, investment, culture, sport and education.
The minister noted that Poland is an important member of the European Union. This country is not just a neighbor of Belarus. It is one of our largest trading and economic investment partners, he said. “Bilateral economic ties have been growing, contributing to the economy,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs said and wished the participants of the meeting fruitful work and new joint projects.
The message of greetings was read out by Belarusian Ambassador to Poland Vladimir Chushev. He also highlighted the importance of this meeting which is intended to promote the Belarusian-Polish cooperation.
