MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - Belarus hopes for the resumption of peace talks on Ukraine and is ready to host the negotiations, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said in an interview with RIA Novosti, BelTA has learned.
“Our doors for peace talks are open. They have always been, and remain so. We will always be ready to host on our Belarusian soil the negotiations, which we hope will contribute to restoring peace and ending bloodshed in Ukraine,” Sergei Aleinik said.
However, according to him, everything depends on the political will of the Ukrainian authorities: “We see that the people of Ukraine would like to restore peace and end the suffering they are facing as soon as possible. Everything is in the hands of politicians today,” he explained.
“Let us hope that the negotiations will resume sooner or later. They need to resume in the right format - between Russia and Ukraine. We also see ourselves as part of this process, since the conflict directly affects Belarus,” Sergei Aleinik said.
