MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The agreements reached by the presidents of Belarus and Equatorial Guinea should be translated into economic projects, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik said at the first meeting of the Belarus-Equatorial Guinea intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA reports.
Recalling the fruitful negotiations in Malabo in June and September 2023, the foreign minister noted: “I am glad that our dialogue remains vibrant, and I am confident that our ongoing meeting in the commission format will bring further results.”
“It is gratifying to realize that it took us less than a month to do the necessary preparatory work, draw up an impressive agenda and arrange today’s meeting,” he continued.
According to the foreign minister, the tone for cooperation was set during the historic visit to Belarus of the president of Equatorial Guinea.
The foreign minister emphasized that the goal of the ongoing meeting and other efforts is to “convert the fundamental agreements between the presidents of the two countries into specific economic projects.”
“Friendly relations between our leaders should be converted into promotion of bilateral projects in manufacturing, agriculture, science and technology, healthcare, education, culture, construction. Our common task is to ensure consistent growth of bilateral trade in line with the potential of the two countries,” said Sergei Aleinik.
According to him, the commission is expected to develop a roadmap to promote bilateral cooperation. This roadmap will be forwarded to the presidents of Belarus and Equatorial Guinea.
