MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ customs authorities ensure a smooth and growing flow of goods across the Belarusian section of the EAEU customs border, Deputy Chairman of Belarus’ State Customs Committee Sergei Poluden noted at a business forum on logistics in Minsk, BelTA informs.
Belarus’ foreign trade went up by 22% in January-September 2017 from the same period of 2016. “Logistics operators handle these flows, and customs authorities ensure a smooth and growing flow of goods across the Belarusian section of the border,” Sergei Poluden noted.
He emphasized that logistics play the most important role in planning the business processes of every company. “Belarus’ geographic position determines the special role of logistics. The government has adopted a program to develop the logistics and transit potential for the period up to 2020. This document gives a high priority to diversifying the export of goods and services and striking a balance in foreign trade,” the official remarked.
The largest company providing logistics services in Belarus is the state-run Beltamozhservice. “The company has been following the global trends in the implementation of cutting-edge information technologies for many years. Its experience may be useful for everyone here,” Sergei Poluden said addressing the forum participants.
The business forum on logistics has been organized by Beltamozhservice. The event is especially important as the EAEU Customs Code is about to come into force. The forum is discussing the transboundary movement of goods from the standpoint of Belarus’ business community and the neighboring countries. It has drawn together representatives of the State Customs Committee, top executives and leading specialists in logistics of transport administrations and companies of the neighboring states.
