MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – Slovakia is interested in the dialogue between Belarus and the European Union, Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico told the media after his talks with Belarus’ Premier Andrei Kobyakov on 25 November.
Robert Fico believes as important to abandon the policy of sanctions. The Slovakian Prime Minister emphasized that sanctions are harmful. The abolition of sanctions will bring the EU countries and Belarus closer, the Slovakian head of government added.
Robert Fico expressed confidence that a document will be worked out to step up cooperation between the European Union and Belarus.
The Minsk talks also touched upon the current state of the Eastern Partnership initiative. According to Robert Fico, Eastern Partnership cannot be just a formal declaration. The Slovakian PM stated that the project should have a clear-cut shape as it arouses interest in partners from both the sides. Robert Fico hailed Belarus’ stance on the Eastern Partnership, saying that the European Union needs to listen to the country’s opinion.
