MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) - New Italian novels and collections are on display at the 25th Minsk International Book Fairs, BelTA has learned.
The Italian Embassy in Minsk prepared an extensive program of activities. “The latest Italian books are on display at this important and prestigious fair,” the embassy said. “Italy actively participates in the fair which attests to the strong cultural ties with Belarus and also great mutual interest in the language and literature. We organize the presentations of the most interesting new book projects.”
Four Italian authors are attending the fair to present their books. The writers took part in numerous meetings organized at the book fair and also in educational institutions. The program of the event also features conferences on linguistic topics organized with the support of the Italian language and culture house Dante, the Department of Philology of the Belarusian State University and Italian publishers.
One of the guests of the Italian stand, the finalist of the Strega 2017 Awards gave a lecture in Italian at the Department of Philology of the Belarusian State University about the relations between literature and philosophy. The event included the presentation of his novel E Giusto Obbedire alla Notte.
The program includes one more lecture from editor of the Resto del Carlino newspaper Raffaella Candoli in Italian at the Belarusian State University, and also the presentation of her story Quel tozzo di pane (2017) in the conference hall of the exhibition center. This is a love story between a Belarusian girl and an Italian boy who met during the Second World War.
Vincenzo Santoro, teacher of Italian at the Minsk State Linguistic University, will host an open lesson on 3 March to present his Italian textbook Adriano Una Giornata Qualunque co-written with Margarita Santoro.
On the same day, poet Goffredo Muratgia will present his collection of poems at the book fair.
