STOLIN DISTRICT, 17 September (BelTA) – The Czech Republic shows interest in developing industrial cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Belarus Milan Ekert told reporters on 17 September, BelTA informs.
According to the diplomat, the Czech Republic is interested in developing cooperation with Belarus in many areas, first of all, in energy, agriculture and logistics. Apart from that, the Czech Republic shows interest in the third metro line construction project in Minsk. This country is also one of the main suppliers of equipment for the modernization of many Belarusian industrial giants, and it is a very responsible mission for Czech producers, the Ambassador said. “Belarus is very attractive for Czech businessmen. The country provides good export financing and insurance terms,” he added.
According to Milan Ekert, Belarus is a gateway to the Eurasian Economic Union market for European partners. “We should use it to the advantage of both the Czech Republic and Belarus,” said the diplomat.
In turn, Belarus’ Ambassador to the Czech Republic Valery Kurdyukov stressed that Belarus and the Czech Republic have a big potential for building up mutual trade. In 2014 the trade between the two countries totaled $540 million.
A new plant to produce peat substrates was opened at the basis of OAO Torfopredpriyatiye Glinka in Stolin District, Brest Oblast on 17 September. The Czech company Raselina acted as a foreign investor. The investment project included the construction of the workshop and associated infrastructure, a peat separation line, the Big Bale peat and peat substrate packaging line. The technological equipment for the new manufacturing facility was purchased in Italy, the Czech Republic and Estonia. The plant was built as part of the Belarusian state program Peat for 2008-2010 and up to 2020.
