MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – The strengthening of cultural cooperation promotes the development of all-round bilateral relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said speaking at the concert held on 22 February to celebrate the Chinese Lantern Festival, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat stressed that it is a traditional and widely-celebrated holiday in China. With the Belarusian-Chinese relations have been vibrantly developing, Belarus learns more about the traditions of that country today.
Rector of the Belarusian State University Sergei Ablameiko also emphasized the importance of developing contacts between Belarus and China in every sphere, including culture and education. In his words, nearly 800 Chinese students receive education in the Belarusian State University.
Performing at the concert were Belarusian and Chinese students and pupils from universities and schools running the Chinese language courses.
The Lantern Festival, which was held in the lyceum of the Belarusian State University, was organized by the Confucius National Institute of Sinology at the Belarusian State University under the auspices of the Embassy of China to Belarus.
