MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) - The role of business associations in shaping the favorable business environment should be reinforced, Chairman of the Council for Business Promotion Alexander Turchin said during a meeting with the leaders of the Belarusian business associations, BelTA learned form the official website of the council.
“The business associations should play a bigger role in shaping the favorable business environment in the country. This will benefit everyone, both entrepreneurs and the state. So far I have no clear understanding of the existing structure of the business community: about 60 business associations are registered in the country. Yet it is not entirely clear whose interests they represent. Are these sectoral, regional or multi-functional associations?” Alexander Turchin said addressing the participants of the meeting.
He also noted that the Council for Business Promotion is ready to discuss and participate in the elaboration and promotion of measures necessary to ensure that the largest possible number of Belarusian economic entities be grouped in associations and unions. This will improve the quality of the dialogue between the government and business, strengthen the peer component of the business community.
Measures to secure the development of business associations may include reduced rental fees, defending the interests of members of the associations in court, simplification of the rules to receive international technical assistance, commercial services (consulting, training, etc).
The parties also discussed the ways to strengthen the coordination of the activity of unions and associations.
