Belarus welcomes Hungary’s readiness for closer cooperation

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) - Belarus welcomes Hungary’s readiness for closer cooperation, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told media in Budapest, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the minister, the Belarusian side sees Hungary’s systemic approach to further development of the foreign economic strategy Opening to the East and welcomes the country’s readiness to intensify relations with Belarus. Vladimir Makei thanked Hungary for its pragmatic approach with regard to Belarus.

“Our countries have a lot of mutual interests. This dictates the need to work out joint approaches to those issues on the current international agenda and the present-day challenges. We have many mutual interests based on economic, political, humanitarian, sci-tech cooperation and mutually beneficial interpersonal contacts,” noted the minister.

The Belarusian minister stated that the two countries have similar opinions on the majority of international issues.

While in Budapest, Vladimir Makei held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto. The sides discussed the current status and prospects for the Belarusian-Hungarian relations, Belarus-Hungary interaction in the international organizations, Belarus-EU dialogue and cooperation between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union.
