Belarus’ UN Ambassador: Belarus will protect its territory and respond to any provocations

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarus will make full use of its right to protect its territory and give an appropriate response to any provocations, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the UN Valentin Rybakov said at the UN Security Council meeting on 13 August, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian diplomat stressed: "Belarus will make full use of its right to protect its territory and give an appropriate response to any provocations and any hostile actions using all available forces, means and capabilities."

Valentin Rybakov gave detailed information about the incident with a group of unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the territory of Ukraine which violated the Belarusian airspace and were shot down by the air defense forces of the country.

"Due to the danger of the situation and global risks, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has notified the United Nations and the OSCE about the incident," the Belarusian diplomat said. “We have already requested to disseminate the relevant materials as official documents of the UN Security Council and General Assembly."

"We have already initiated relevant consultations with our allies and partners in international organizations," Valentin Rybakov summarized.
