Belarus’ UAV development ‘faster than expected’

Belarus’ UAV development ‘faster than expected’

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – The development of aerial unmanned vehicles (UAVs) in Belarus is ahead of schedule, Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov told the media following the session of the Belarusian Security Council on 13 February, BelTA has learned.

During the meeting, Andrei Ravkov gave a report on the ministry’s performance in 2017, its tasks for 2018, and the current problems. The Belarus president elaborated on the activities related to equipping the Armed Forces, training officers, and strengthening military discipline.

The development of UAVs is faster than expected, Andrei Ravkov told the media. These UAVs are produced in Belarus and actively operated in practice. “This component is essential for using most firing units. There is a strong interest in such vehicles, including in our country, which is quite natural. Although we are not among the leaders, we are not behind either,” the minister pointed out.

He also stressed that the Armed Forces have everything they need. The Belarusian army is prepared enough to accomplish its objectives, the minister added.

In his words, an inspection of the Armed Forces is underway in Belarus.
