MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Competition at the national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 was very strong, Elizaveta Misnikova who will represent Belarus at the international song contest said during an online conference on the website of the Belarusian Television and Radio Company, BelTA reports.
“I was not sure that I would win, because the final show featured very strong artists with great acts. The competition was really tough and I congratulate all the singers on making it to the final. I was nervous before taking to the stage, but I think it is normal to be nervous. However, when I started singing, the nervousness went away and everything went on very well. I barely saw the voting process because the view was obstructed by our girls. At first I could not understand why everyone was shouting. And then I saw my name on top of the voting table. When I realized what happened I was beyond myself. Then I had another look to make sure that I was not seeing things and then I went to the winner’s place,” Elizaveta Misnikova said.
The winning entry Pepelnyi was written in collaboration with Kirill Good and Natalia Tambovtseva. “My song is about different ways of looking at things. If you call a color gray, it will be sad and dull. If you call it silver, it will be bright and airy. The same is about life. I can also be different on stage, sometimes I am jolly, sometimes I sing a sad song. I wrote this song specifically for the contest and I really like it, it makes you want to dance,” the singer said.
The artist noted that she has many friends and they supported her during the final show. “There was a big crowd voting for me. When I took to the stage, everyone started singing my song. That support was tremendous. I really appreciate followers who wrote me many nice things after I won. It took me two days to respond, because there were so many messages,” she said.
Speaking about the act, she noted that it will be slightly changed for the international contest. “Improvements will certainly be made. During the national selection process, I changed my costume several times. The song can also be performed in English, it might also undergo changes, so everything is possible. I think the music video to this song will be cool and electrifying,” Elizaveta said.
The artist has been doing music since five, however, she has been singing professionally only since 11.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will be held in Gliwice, Poland, on 24 November 2019. Belarus has taken part in every edition of the contest since its debut in 2003 and has won the contest twice: in 2005 with Ksenia Sitnik performing the song My Vmeste and again in 2007 with Alexey Zhigalkovich performing the entry S Druziyami. Belarus hosted the show for the second time in 2018 and gathered a record high number of participants in the history of the contest. Performers from 20 countries took to the stage of Minsk Arena in 2018.
