LJUBLJANA, 8 July (BelTA) – Belarus makes a substantial contribution to the security in the region, Ada Filip Slivnik, the head of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, told BelTA.
"Slovenia appreciates Belarus' role in resolving the Ukrainian crisis,” said Ada Filip Slivnik. “It is obvious that Belarus has become an effective negotiating platform for discussing the issue. Weapons are not used as heavily as before,” she said. In her view, the important thing is to ensure that "the Minsk agreement should be implemented in full.”
"Belarus has found its place between East and West and is a kind of bridge,” believes Ada Filip Slivnik. She previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to Russia and with concurrent accreditation to Belarus and knows the country well. "Within the EU Slovenia raises its voice for Belarus, including with regard to mitigating the sanctions and liberalizing the visa requirements between Belarus and the EU," Ada Filip Slivnik noted.
