MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – Belarus is an important nodal point in the Silk Road Economic Belt project. The statement was made by Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich during the forum of information ministers of Eurasian countries on 19 September, BelTA has learned. The forum was held as part of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo in the Chinese city of Urumqi, representatives of the Belarusian Information Ministry told BelTA.
During the forum’s plenary session the Belarusian Information Minister delivered a report on emerging opportunities and prospects of the Silk Road Economic Belt. She emphasized the high level of strategic partnership relations between Belarus and China. The Minister drew attention to the importance of Belarus’ participation in implementing the Silk Road Economic Belt project by stressing that the country is an important nodal point of the project.
Lilia Ananich also informed the forum participants about the current state and prospects of developing Belarus-China cooperation in the sphere of printed media and information.
During the forum Lilia Ananich met with Cui Yuying, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The Belarusian Information Minister also met with a deputy director of the China Central Television (CCTV), the director general of the Press Office of Egypt, the head of the information department of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the head of the Association of Journalists of Mongolia.
Alexander Karlyukevich, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Belarusian publishing house Zvyazda, also took part in the forum. The publishing house puts a lot of effort into advancing Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in information and publishing affairs.
