MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) - Belarus presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was eventful, responsible and professional, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov told the media on 30 November, BelTA has learned.
According to the minister, Russia highly appreciates Belarus’ presidency in the CSTO. “It was event-packed, responsible and highly professional. The fact that we have prepared a big package of documents for the summit testifies to this,” said Sergei Lavrov.
He recalled that this year several CSTO member states hosted the CSTO collective forces exercises, and this shows a new quality of political and military cooperation. The CSTO countries have accumulated the potential to be able to look at the current threats with confidence. The matter is, in particular, about cybersecurity. Sergei Lavrov noted that the package of documents to be considered at today's summit includes a draft agreement on cooperation in the field of information security. Thus, the CSTO countries are building up the legal framework to address these and other challenges effectively,” Sergei Lavrov said.
