Belarus-China relations hailed as steadily developing

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese relations have been steadily developing, Military Attache at the China’s Embassy in Belarus Qu Huijiang said at a function held on 26 July to mark the 92nd anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Liberation Army of China, BelTA has learned.

“Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandr Lukashenko the Chinese-Belarusian relations support sustainable and healthy development. Both the parties have developed comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual trust, cooperation and mutual benefit. China and Belarus are all weather friends who provide strong support to each other based on firm friendship,” the Chinese representative said.

The attache added that bilateral relations are strengthening while pragmatic cooperation is becoming more profound, raising comprehensive development onto a new level. “Entering a new epoch of development, China is ready to work together with Belarus for the implementation of agreements made by the two heads of state and advance relations between the countries and armed forces for the achievement of new results,” Qu Huijiang said.

The diplomat emphasized that the world has been on the threshold of unprecedented changes in the last 100 years, while uncertainty and instability continued increasing. According to the attache, China respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries and supports their chosen path of development. At the same time, China will never give up its legitimate rights and interests.

Qu Huijiang stressed that the Chinese Armed Forces stand firmly on protecting global security and stability. China actively supports UN peacekeeping operations, develops military cooperation with more than 150 countries, and has launched defense consultation mechanisms with more than 40 countries.

In turn, Belarus’ Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov stressed that military cooperation is only one of the elements of comprehensive interaction between Belarus and China. A reliable foundation for its development remains the historically established friendly relations between the two states.
