MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) - The number of young people among the candidates to the local councils of deputies in Minsk and regional centers is growing, Chairperson of Belarus’ Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told the media ahead of the Open Dialogue in the Academy of Public Administration under the auspices of Belarus President, BelTA has learned.

“The number of candidates from the youth is different across the country. If we talk about Minsk, there are many young people standing in these elections. There are many young people among the candidates in the regional centers as well. In rural areas, there are few of them unfortunately,” she said.

The theme of the Open Dialogue in the Academy of Public Administration under the auspices of the President of Belarus was Youth and Elections: the Formula of Responsibility. CEC Chairwoman Lydia Yermoshina, the leadership and students of the university discussed the readiness for elections to the local councils of deputies of the 28th convocation.

The BRSM Youth Union project "Open Dialogue" was launched as a broad discussion platform to enable young people of Belarus to raise the most pressing issues and address their questions to representatives of government bodies, politicians, entrepreneurs, and public figures.
