MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Poland have every possibility to hit $3 billion in mutual trade, Belarus’ Ambassador to Poland Vladimir Chushev said at the opening ceremony of the 22nd Belarus-Poland economic forum Good Neighborliness 2019 on 7 June, BelTA has learned.
According to the ambassador, the geographical location and a long shared history of Belarus and Poland call for closer cooperation, first of all, in the economic sector. “There are reserves which provide us with an opportunity to hit $3 billion in mutual trade. As for investment, there is every reason to believe that we will surpass the threshold of $500 million, including Polish investments in Belarus,” the ambassador said.
According to Vladimir Chushev, Belarus has been improving its rankings in starting a business, registering property, other important indicators. He sees the potential of bilateral interaction in building up industrial cooperation. Parliaments, ministries and diplomats of the two countries are cooperating on the matter, he said. “I can say that the Belarusian embassy in Poland is open for cooperation and is always ready to host business meetings for further development of trade in goods and services,” the ambassador said.
He named woodworking, metalworking, construction and food industry as promising areas of cooperation. “Here, we can set up new joint companies,” the diplomat believes.
In his words, Belarus is home to about 350 companies with the Polish capital, 200 of them are joint Belarusian-Polish companies.
