MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba have great prospects for cooperation in different areas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Gerardo Suarez Alvarez told reporters on 19 October, BelTA has learned.
The Ambassador said that the relations between Belarus and Cuba have grown considerably over the past years. The ties between businessmen and government agencies have been intensified. High-level visits have become more frequent. For instance, Cuba has recently hosted a Belarusian delegation composed of representatives of such enterprises as Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark), Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), Minsk Motor Plant, and also the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
The countries are considering ways to strengthen cooperation in mutual recognition of the registration of medicinal products. Belarus hosted a delegation of senior management of a big pharmaceutical holding company and the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. The delegation met with representatives of the Belarusian Health Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences.
“Concrete steps are taken to make a full use of the potential of the bilateral relations and boost the trade between Belarus and Cuba,” Gerardo Suarez Alvarez noted.
He added that Cuba is growing in popularity with Belarusian tourists, although the absence of direct flights between the two countries is still a strong limiting factor. Cuba regularly participates in travel and tourism trade shows in Belarus.
