MIR, 19 November (BelTA) - Serbia President Tomislav Nikolic visited Mir Castle Complex on 19 November, BelTA has learned.
The Serbian head of state got acquainted with the exposition of the museum, made an entry in the book of distinguished guests to express his admiration of the beauty of Belarus.
Tomislav Nikolic also got familiar with the exhibition of sporting trophies of famous Belarusian tennis player Max Mirny which are on display in Mir Castle.
Tomislav Nikolic is in Belarus on an official visit on 18-20 November. Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko and Serbia President held one-on-one and expanded-participation talks. The two leaders signed a joint statement.
Alexander Lukashenko and Tomislav Nikolic are set to visit the construction site of the pilot multipurpose complex Minsk-Mir where they will participate in a ceremony to lay down a capsule symbolizing the start of construction. Tomislav Nikolic is also scheduled to visit Minsk Tractor Works, the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
Mir Castle Complex is a unique specimen of the Belarusian’ national culture. In 2000 it was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The architectural ensemble represents a castle-museum of the 16th-20th centuries, with the exposition occupying 39 exhibition halls, includes earth walls, picturesque parks and a pond, a family vault of the Sviatopolk-Mirsky family. The castle complex hosts musical and jousting festivals, arts and crafts events. In 2014 Mir Castle hosted more than 300,000 visitors.
