MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarusian students won one silver and two bronze medals at the 32nd International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2020) that featured 343 participants from 87 countries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Education Ministry.
The Belarusian team included four winners of the final stage of the national olympiad in informatics 2019/2020. Andrei Mishchenko, a graduate of Mozyr Secondary School No.13, took a silver medal. Bronze medals went to graduate of Vitebsk Gymnasium No.8 Yaroslav Borisov and graduate of the BSU Lyceum Pavel Sankin.
Te 32nd International Olympiad in Informatics was held on 13-23 September online, taking advantage of information and communications technology. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education of Singapore.
The IOI is one of the most prestigious competitions in informatics. The first IOI was held in Pravetz, Bulgaria in 1989. According to the rules, all participants compete individually. Up to four participants from every country can enter the competition. It consists of two rounds. Students need to solve three problems in each round using several programming languages. They are given five hours to solve the tasks in each round.
