MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – Arina Sobolenko of Belarus continues her successful run at the Hobart International Tennis, BelTA has learned.
In the match of last 16 Arina Sobolenko and Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova defeated the Russian-Swiss tandem of Natela Dzalamidze and Xenia Knoll 6-1, 5-7, 10-6. In the quarterfinal Sobolenko and Kudermetova will face the Romanian-Ukrainian duet of Raluca Olaru and Olga Savchuk.
In the singles last 16 Arina Sobolenko, ranked 69th in the WTA, will take on world number 35 Zhang Shuai of China on 10 January. The winner of the encounter will compete for a semifinal berth against Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine, ranked 43rd.
The competitions in Hobart will be over on 13 January and the world’s leading tennis players will head for Melbourne which will be hosting the Australian Open on 15-28 January.
