MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – The Smart Patent 2018 fair of innovative ideas will open in a solemn ceremony in Minsk on 4 December. Over two days the best ideas and solutions of domestic companies and teams will be presented at an exposition in the Palace of Arts. The fair will also feature seminars and a youth scientific forum, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Minsk City Council.

The forum will introduce visitors to new solutions across a variety of fields: medicine, manufacturing technology, chemistry and Earth science, energy, information technology and biotechnology. It will bring together representatives of respective ministries and agencies, technology parks, banks and partners from Russia and Ukraine who will demonstrate projects in effluent water treatment, alternative nuclear energy and an AR board game.

“Over 100 applicants sought to present their projects and solutions at the fair. School and university students as well as young scientists submitted a total of 485 reports to be delivered during seminars and conferences. Fifteen projects take part in a startup contest,” the organizers noted.

The most interesting ideas to be featured at the fair include an autonomous public lighting system running on solar and wind energy. It can be used in the places where electrical wiring installation does not make economic sense. Other interesting solutions include an AR board game and a Turbosphere project based on transformation of excessive natural gas pressure into additional energy. Investors might as well get interested in a professional spaceflight simulator; visitors will be able to test it at the fair. The University of Civil Protection of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry will show an explosion localization device. The device can be broadly used during mass events. The Institute of Inclusive Education of Belarusian State Pedagogical University and the National Art Museum will demonstrate a sophisticated technology to educate people with hearing impairments about art.

Other social projects include a Dobrodel workshop that is designed to create jobs for people with special needs and improve a company’s economic performance.

The business program of the fair features seminars on financial literacy, labor relations and taxation in information technology, an algorithm of joining the Hi-Tech Park, digital economy basics, etc., a conference Scientific Aspirations, a forum First Step into Science and a contest of startups. SMEs will be told how to apply for financing to the innovative fund of the Minsk City Council.

Apart from that, visitors will be able to get entertained in an interactive zone with master classes in robotics, 3D printing, drones and tech games.

The fair will be held for the eighth time. It will give investors an excellent opportunity to meet fledgling entrepreneurs and their projects. It will bring together representatives of the leading research laboratories, investment and innovation funds, technology transfer centers and foreign technology parks interested in forging partner contacts and promoting tech projects and innovative products.

The fair will be open from 10:00 till 19:00. The entrance is free. The results will be announced and the award ceremony will take place on 5 December.

The event is organized by the Minsk City Council, Minsk City Technopark, Intelligence Laboratory, and Youth Innovation Center with support of the Education Ministry, Healthcare Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences.
