MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – The exhibition “Ancient Money of the East – Silver and Paper” arranged jointly with Shenyang Finance Museum will open at the National History Museum of Belarus on 2 August, BelTA learned from the museum.
This exhibition will showcase the diversity of financial instruments of China. It will show evolution of silver ingots and paper money from the Tang dynasty (7th- 10th centuries) to the end of the Qing dynasty (early 20th century) in China. Visitors will also see original collectors’ coins and paper money of contemporary China.
“The exhibition will introduce visitors to China’s traditional financial system. It will show the role of silver ingots in the economy of the Chinese civilization, the emergence and evolution of paper money that amazed the legendary traveler Marco Polo. Visitors will discover little-known facts from the history of the ancient civilization and see modern currency of the People’s Republic of China,” the museum informed.
The project will stay open till 18 August.
In 2018 Shenyang Finance Museum signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National History Museum of Belarus. Shenyang Finance Museum is located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province. It boasts a unique collection of over 6,000 coins, banknotes, ingots and other financial instruments used in China from antiquity till today.
