"Shchuchin District and Grodno Oblast are associated with the names of the people who have contributed to the Belarusian culture. I think that these celebrations will draw the attention not only of the locals but also people across the country, and raise the literature and the art of word to an even higher level," said Belarus’ Deputy Information Minister Vladimir Matusevich
The Belarusian Written Language Day is traditionally held in historic and cultural centers, which are associated with the famous figures of the country. The festival was hosted by Novogrudok, Nesvizh, Orsha, Pinsk, Mstislavl, Mir, Kamenets, Postavy, Shklov, Smorgon, Borisov, Khoiniki, Gantsevichi, Glubokoye, and Bykhov. Two-time hosts were Polotsk (1994, 2003), Turov (1995, 2004), and now Zaslavl (previously in 2000).
This is the first time Shchuchin will host the Belarusian Written Language Day.
