Sasnovich progresses into Last 16 at St Petersburg Open

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 97 Aliaksandra Sasnovich went off to a good start at the St Petersburg Open seeing off Romania’s world number 99 Ana Bogdan, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, on 15 March, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face either Russia’s world number 61 Daria Kasatkina or world number 96 Clara Tauson of Denmark.

Belarus’ world number 281 Vera Lapko will open against world number 160 Jaqueline Cristian of Romania on 16 March.

In the round of Last 16 of the doubles event the Belarusian duo of Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Lidziya Marozava will face the Russian tandem of Ekaterina Shalimova and Daria Mishina. Vera Lapko and Sweden’s Cornelia Lister will play against the Russian duo of Elena Vesnina and Vera Zvonareva.

The tournament in St Petersburg will be over on 21 March.
