MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 99 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has reached the Cleveland quarterfinal, seeing off world number 37 Nadia Podoroska of Argentina 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 47 minutes, BelTA has learned.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich went off to a good start at the 2021 Cleveland Championships defeating world number 119 Christina McHale of the United States 6-4, 7-5. The Belarusian will next play world number 74 Irina Begu of Romania for a spot in the semifinal.
Belarus’ world number 63 Ilya Ivashka advanced into the 2021 Winston-Salem Open second round seeing off Italy’s world number 88 Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-4.
The Belarusian then advanced further defeating world number 36 Marin Cilic of Croatia 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in almost three hours. Ilya Ivashka will next face world number 52 Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany.
The tournaments serve as a rehearsal ahead of the season’s final Grand Slam tournament – US Open, which is due to take place in New York on 30 August-12 September.
