MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ World No.3 Aryna Sabalenka defeated world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland, 6-3, 6-3, to reach the Cincinnati final, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted for an one and 48 minutes.
The Belarusian will face No.6 Jessica Pegula of the United States in Monday's final.
On her way to the final Aryna Sabalenka beat world number 66 Elisabetta Cocciaretto of Italy, 6-3, 6-4, Ukraine’s world number 30 Elina Svitolina, 7-5, 6-2, and Russia’s world number 17 Liudmila Samsonova, 6-3, 6-2.
Defending champion Coco Gauff was stunned by Yulia Putintseva (33) of Kazakhstan in the Cincinnati opener, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
