MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry and the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Culture Ministry are going to discuss the organization of military and patriotic tours and sanatorium recreation for Russian citizens, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoi on 17 March.
Mikhail Portnoi is expected to meet with Oleg Safonov, head of the Federal Agency for Tourism, in Moscow on 21 March. The negotiations will focus on sanatorium and resort recreation, military and patriotic tours as well as automobile tourism.
“We would like to make visits to Brest Fortress, the Khatyn Memorial, and other landmarks part of the curriculum for Russian school students. As far as camping projects are concerned, the Russians are interested in investing in this movement. They are particularly curious about the M1 motorway,” said the Belarusian Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister. The organization of a fact-finding tour to Belarus for Russian mass media will also be discussed.
Russia is the main market for exporting Belarusian tourism services. Tourists from Russia traditionally make up about 70% of the total number of people, who come to Belarus. The number of Russian tourists, who come to Belarus, went down in 2015.
