MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Pope Francis will receive Chernobyl disaster cleanup workers on 20 April, BelTA learned from Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz. Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church, on 22 March.
“I am going there myself. And two archbishops from Ukraine. There may be about 50 Chernobyl cleanup workers. I don’t know the precise number,” said the head of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus. Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz specified that the letters requesting a meeting with the Chernobyl cleanup workers had been written by him, a Catholic hierarch from Lvov and the head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
An exhibition of Belarusian icons will be opened in the Vatican in May 2016. It is being arranged by the National Art Museum of Belarus.
