GRODNO, 21 April (BelTA) – Polish travel agencies are ready to send more clients to health resorts of Belarus’ Grodno Oblast, Anatoly Gonchar, the head of the Grodno Oblast division of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation, told BelTA.
Some 50 representatives of the tourism industry of Poland’s Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, including owners and directors of travel agencies, are currently in Grodno Oblast on a visit to study the region’s tourism offerings and the opportunities for cooperation with the local health centers.
“The tourism specialists asked us to organize the visit in view of the growing interest from Polish citizens in Belarusian health improvement programs. This is a result of the work that was done last year. The first press tours to the health centers of Grodno Oblast were followed by buses of tourists from Poland. Since then, the geography of tourists from the neighboring country has been expanding,” Anatoly Gonchar said.
For many members of the delegation from Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, this is the first visit to Belarus. However, in anticipation of the visit some travel agencies of the Polish region already signed agreements with three health centers in Grodno Oblast. In a few days, the centers will welcome a group of holidaymakers from the northern province of Poland.
The familiarization tour will include visits to health centers and excursions to Grodno, Novogrudok, Mir, Nesvizh, and the villages of Zaosie and Vasilishki. The joint meeting of representatives of the Polish and Belarusian tourism industries on 21 April was attended by representatives of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and by Consul General of Poland in Grodno Jaroslaw Ksiazek.
