GRODNO, 13 April (BelTA) – Over 700 athletes from seven countries will take part in the Grodno IOF Orienteering World Ranking event, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Orienteering Federation Edvard Arod.
Partaking in the competitions will be athletes, teams and orienteering clubs from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and the United States. The age of the participants will vary from 4 to 84.
“A number of tournaments will take place in the city at one time. Among them is the Grodno Open Orienteering Cup, the Grodno Oblast Open Championship, Belarus’ MTB Orienteering Cup and the Grodno IOF Orienteering World Ranking event,” noted Edvard Arod.
The winners of the competitions will be named in individual and team standings. The best team will get the cup.
The Grodno Orienteering Cup has been held since 1977. With the time it has become an international tournament. Among the organizers of the competitions is the Belarusian Orienteering Federation, the sport and tourism department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, the education, sport and tourism department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and the Kronan orienteering club.
