MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - More than 400 participants from 20 countries have been invited to attend the 10th Belarus International Media Forum "Partnership for the Future: the Legacy of the Great Victory" which will take place in Minsk on 7-10 June, BelTA learned from the Information Ministry of Belarus.
Among the invitees are media outlets managers, eminent political scientists, experts from the CIS and foreign countries.
The Belarus International Media Forum has been designed as a platform to exchange views and develop new ideas, provide an opportunity to consolidate the efforts of the international press community and experts to deepen partnerships, strengthen the interstate integration processes, and create the CIS common humanitarian space.
This year’s forum is held in the context of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory which is a landmark date for the former Soviet Union and the entire world, and a special peacekeeping role of Belarus in the current complex geopolitical situation. Its main goal is the assertion of Belarus as a sovereign state that conducts an open and honest policy, defends the principles of good-neighborliness, peace and understanding. It is also important to focus the public attention on the issues of preserving the historical memory and consolidating the media community in confronting contemporary challenges and threats.
The media forum will include a plenary session, thematic panel discussions, summer school of journalism with master classes from leading Belarusian and foreign journalists, the project Belarus Unconquered with a visit to the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War, Brest Hero Fortress and Khatyn memorials (9-10 June).
The media forum has been organized by the Information Ministry of Belarus, the Permanent Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State, the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Minsk City Hall, and also Minsk and Brest regional administrations.
