Olympics 2024: Games come to an end in Paris

MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – The Stade de France Stadium played host to the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics Games on 11 August, BelTA has learned.

The Games ran in the capital of Paris from 24 July to 11 August. Belarusian athletes, who competed at the Olympics in a neutral status, won four (1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) medals. Ivan Litvinovich graced the top of the podium in men's trampoline jumping, while Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya claimed silver in women's trampoline jumping. Yauheni Zalaty clinched silver in the men’s single sculls, and Yauheni Tsikhantsou secured bronze in the men’s 102kg weightlifting event.

The Belarusian delegation to the Games also included rowers Tatsiana Klimovich, Yuliya Trushkina and Uladzislau Kravets, weightlifter Siuzanna Valodzka, swimmers Anastasiya Shkurdai, Alina Zmushka and Ilya Shymanovich, shooters Daria Chupris and Aliaksandra Piatrova, cyclist Hanna Tserakh, wrestlers Abubakar Khaslakhanau and Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau, and taekwondo athlete Georgiy Gurtsiev.

The 2024 Olympic Games featured over 10,000 athletes competing in 329 medal events. The United States topped the medal tally with 126 (40-44-42) medals. Belarus, if its medals were to be shown in the official medal table, would round up Top 50 among 206 teams.
