MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmer Anastasiya Shkurdai progressed to the women’s 200m backstroke semifinal at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on 1 August, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian clocked 2:09.64 to place seventh in the overall table of 27 athletes. The event brought bronze to the athlete at the Doha 2024 World Aquatics Championships in February.
The semifinal is scheduled later on 1 August. The top eight swimmers will advance to the final. Anastasiya Shkurdai’s primary task for today is to qualify for the semifinal that will feature 16 best athletes. In case she does this, she will compete in the evening for a spot in Friday’s final. Alina Zmushka finished eighth in the women’s 100m breaststroke, Ilya Shymanovich – tenth in the men’s 100m breaststroke.
