Office and hotel compound near NOC headquarters in Minsk to be commissioned in March

Victoria Olymp HotelMINSK, 10 March (BelTA) - The office and hotel compound near the Belarusian National Olympic Committee (NOC) headquarters in Minsk will be delivered in March, Director General of Building Trust company No. 3 Nikolai Asheichik told media in Minsk, BelTA learned.

"The compound is about 98% complete. In accordance with the Decree of the President the compound will be put into operation in the first quarter of the year. On March 25 we will invite the acceptance commission,” said Nikolai Asheichik. The Ministry of Architecture and Construction also believes that the compound will be commissioned as scheduled.

The finishing work involves up to 1,000 specialists: interior decorators, plumbers, electricians and other professionals. "Now we are carefully inspecting everything that has been built. Works to be done in March are estimated about Br20 billion. In February, the figure stood at Br76 billion,” said Nikolai Asheichik.

According to him, mainly Belarusian construction materials were used to build the office and hotel compound and the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Victoria Olymp HotelThe compound consists of three separate parts: the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee, a 15-storey office building and 10-storey Victoria Olymp Hotel. "In the central part of the hotel there is a lobby and a reception. On the ground floor there is a large conference room, spa facilities with a pool, Turkish bath and Finnish sauna, and a restaurant. The second floor of the hotel also has a meeting room,” said chief engineer at Belpromproekt company Oleg Moroz.

The hotel has 234 rooms which can accommodate up to 482 people. The 9th and 10th floors have a luxury suite one each. In the basement of the building there is a parking lot for staff and office workers. As for constructive solutions, this is a monolithic frame building with glass facades and exterior made of ceramic and granite slabs.

Chief Architect Kazis Kerutis said that the idea to build the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee emerged about 10 years ago. "First, we wanted to make the headquarters attached to the hotel and the surrounding area. Then the concept was changed and new requirements were set out. It was decided to separate these two buildings and to add an office building to recoup the costs” he said. So, according to the architect, office workers and hotel visitors will not interfere with the functioning of the NOC headquarters.

Office and hotel compound near NOC headquarters in Minsk"The NOC headquarters is a small building, the office and hotel compound is large, which makes a compositional contradiction. To make the emphasis on the NOC headquarters, we made a 40-meter dome on the fifth floor of this building, which houses a multi-purpose hall. Blue glass stripes on the dome symbolize the waves of the sea, and the glass of other colors - land. The top is made of metal roof which is painted blue. It is the symbol of the polar cap,” said Kazis Kerutis. Thus, the architects wanted to show that the Olympic movement unites the entire world, he explained.

The headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus was put into operation in the fall of 2013.
