MOGILEV, 30 March (BelTA) – Mogilev is playing host to the 9th meeting of sister cities and partners of Belarus and Russia on 30 and 31 March. The event is timed to celebrate the Day of Unity of the Peoples of the two countries, BelTA learned from Boris Batura, the chairman of the Belarusian organization Twin Cities.
He stressed the importance of developing comprehensive contacts between the two sister nations and further strengthening of trade and economic cooperation. The plenary meeting is scheduled for 31 March. Many guests have already arrived in Mogilev and are getting acquainted with the city.
According to Boris Batura, there was a reason for choosing the city to host this event. Mogilev is twinned with Tula, Penza, and one of the districts of Moscow.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko sent a letter of greetings to the participants of the event in Mogilev. Alexander Lukashenko stressed the important role of sister cities in the development of partner relations between the two countries and creative initiatives aimed at promoting mutual understanding and good-neighborliness. The event is designed to encourage the participants to implement new mutually beneficial projects.
