MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Minsk’s Dinamo Stadium has received Category 1 stadium certificate from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Athletics Federation.
The corresponding document was signed by President of the IAAF Sebastian Coe and Head of the IAAF Technical Committee Jorge Salcedo. “The certificate allows for hosting international tournaments of the highest level, including world championships,” the Belarusian Athletics Federation said.
The quality of the renovated arena was lauded by Belarusian athletes, including Alina Talay, who clocked her second best time of 12.50 seconds at the stadium. “The Minsk stadium is of the highest class. Before entering the arena I had a feeling of being at the world championships or the Olympic Games,” she said.
State coach of the Ukrainian national athletic team Vyacheslav Tyrtyshnik called Dinamo Stadium amazing in an interview with the Athletics Federation of Ukraine. “I was surprised by cleanness, tidiness, number and quality of sports facilities. Cycling and roller skiing tracks are in excellent condition in Minsk. Everything is illuminated at night. This is not to mention sports arenas! Now the Belarusians have a great Dinamo Stadium, which hosted the athletics event, the ice arena, indoor arena for skating, the incredible House of Rhythmic Gymnastics. In Minsk you drive along the avenue and see House of Football, House of Rowing. Everything looks amazing,” he stressed.
As it was reported the ceremony to reopen Dynamo Stadium after the reconstruction on 21 June was attended by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, the IAAF head Sebastian Coe. The international athletic event was held on 22 June.
