MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will hold a conference on grassroots football which will bring together over 200 football experts from all over the world in Minsk on 10-14 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Football Federation (BFF).
The Belarusian capital will host such a large-scale conference for the first time. Participants of the 12th UEFA Grassroots Conference will include representatives of 55 UEFA member states and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Legendary Spanish striker Raul who played for Real Madrid and the Spanish national team for many years is expected to come to Minsk. The main topics of the conference will include promoting football in schools, developing children’s, youth, and grassroots football clubs, and improving coach education.
In the last three years, the BFF has had its attention on developing grassroots football and has changed its approaches regarding this matter. It now focuses on long-term comprehensive projects in all parts of Belarus. The BFF has set up a grassroots football division at its technical department. The division has three full-time employees, seven regional managers, and four project managers. Thanks to active work in the field of grassroots football in the recent years, the BFF has received additional financial and technical aid from the UEFA which enabled the BFF to launch several important long-term projects.
