MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – Minsk will be hosting the Second Youth Theater Forum of the CIS countries, the Baltic states and Georgia from 19 till 26 November, consultant at the culture department at the Belarusian Culture Ministry Viktoria Kuksyenkova said at a press conference in Minsk on 18 June, BelTA has learned.
Partaking in the forum will be theater companies from 14 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Estonia. Belarus will be represented by the Mogilev Regional Puppet Theater with Shakespeare's Hamlet staged by Igor Kazakov. The program of the forum features exhibitions, roundtables, and meet-the-artist events.
Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Theater Workers Alexei Dudarev noted that the forum presents a young theater full of new ideas and not constrained by any traditions. “This is not the theater of the future, but a young theater. This is how they see, how they go forward, how they think,” the Belarusian playwright said. Alexei Dudarev wished young theater workers to remember about the content in search for new forms, remember about meaning in search for new ideas, and remember that art and, in particular, theater art is for people.
The decision to organize the forum was made by the International Confederation of Theater Associations, the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, and the Belarusian Culture Ministry.
The First Youth Theater Forum of the CIS countries, the Baltic states and Georgia was held in Chisinau, Moldova, in 2012.
