MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Minsk will host the Day of Multiethnic Russia on 10 June, BelTA learned from the Russian Embassy in Belarus.
The celebrations will take place in the Upper Town from 1pm to 6pm. The program includes performances by the song and dance groups of the public associations of the Belarusian Center of Ethnic Cultures and the Coordinating Council of the Heads of Public Associations of Russian Compatriots.
The concert at the main venue will feature Nikitina Russian Songs Choir, the dance group Legends of the Caucasus who will teach Minsk residents and visitors to dance Lezginka, the Tatar and Bashkir folk band Leisan, and the Chuvash music band Khamar Yal. The special guest list includes the Perm Provincial Orchestra, the folk song group Khmel from Nizhny Novgorod, and soloists of Maestro Choir from Saint Petersburg.
There will be a special entertainment area for children. Besides, the celebrations will feature exhibitions of handicrafts: pottery, knitting, birchbark wickerwork, smithing, and other crafts. The visitors will be invited to learn more about the traditional dress of the Tatar, Bashkir, Chuvash, Russian, and Degestani ethnic groups. The club Bersek will stage a fist fighting performance. The guests will be treated to the traditional dishes of different ethnic groups living in Russia.
The celebrations are organized by Minsk City Hall, the public associations of the Belarusian Center of Ethnic Cultures, and the Coordinating Council of the Heads of Public Associations of Russian Compatriots with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus.
