MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – The 9th international numismatic conference Belarusian Ruble at 25 is taking place in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Information and Public Relations Department of the National Bank.
This year the conference celebrates 25th anniversary of the Belarusian ruble as the only legal means of payment in Belarus. The corresponding decision was taken by the Supreme Council of Belarus on 19 October 1994.
The conference has gathered about 60 representatives of big museums, central banks, leading numismatologists, researchers of the history of currency, banking and modern minting from seven countries: Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Belarus. The conference will run through 16 October.
The international numismatic conference is a biennial event held by the National Bank with the assistance of the Belarusian Numismatic Society. It is an important numismatic event of Central and Eastern Europe. The first conference took place in 2003.
