MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Minsk National Airport will commission the second runway in April-May, Artem Sikorsky, Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry, said as he attended the final board session of the Transport and Communications Ministry, BelTA has learned.
“Minsk National Airport is certifying the runway which is a very complex engineering construction. We plan to commission the runway in late April or early May,” Artem Sikorsky said.
He noted that the airport is getting ready to welcome guests and athletes of the European Games. “By 1 May, we plan to set up 10 Drop-Off luggage self-service stands which will be incorporated into the self-service network along with self-service check-in kiosks. We are also introducing the system of mobile boarding passes and the Fast Track service,” Artem Sikorsky added.
Thanks to such upgrades the airport will be able to provide high quality services to passengers, to ensure safety and convenience and to reduce the time of operations.
The work is also underway to adapt the airport for people with disabilities.
