MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Minsk National Airport and the Belarusian air carrier Belavia have made it into the list of the world’s most punctual airports and airlines, BelTA learned from the national air company.
The UK-based air travel intelligence company OAG has released new data on the most punctual airlines and airports around the world. For the report, the data of airlines and airports from October 2016 to March 2017 was considered. Both Belavia and Minsk National Airport placed 8th in the ranking with four and five stars respectively. “According to the report, Belavia demonstrated an 88.8% on-time performance (OPT), while Minsk National Airport posted a 90.6% OTP record,” the air company said.
According to Belavia, airlines and airports with a punctuality score of 90-100% are awarded five stars, those with the punctuality of 87.5-89.9% - four stars, 83-87.4% - three stars, 80-82.9% - two stars and 75-79.9% - one star. The punctuality performance of the airlines which are not rated is under 75%. The ranking is updated twice a year.
“According to the OAG ranking, three airlines got five stars. Five stars were awarded to 11 airports: Paris Beauvais-Tille Airport (95.94% of flights without delays), Tokushima, Japan (91.64%), Kochi, India (91.46%), Newcastle, the UK (91.42%), Dortmund, Germany (90.92%), Birmingham, the UK (90.75%), Hilo, Hawaii (90.64%), Minsk, Belarus (90.62%), Cardiff, the UK (90.4%), Surabaya, Indonesia (90.37%), and Aracaju, Brazil (90.01%),” the air company said.
