MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) - MAZ-SPORTauto crew piloted by Sergei Vyazovich won Stage 4 of the Silk Way Rally through Russia, Mongolia and China, BelTA learned from the MAZ press service.
Stage 4 took a 477km circular route around Ulaanbaatar. The Special was 470km long.
Three crews of MAZ-SPORTauto Team occupied Stage 4 podium as they finished first, second and third. Sergei Vyazovich won the third victory since the start of the race and significantly strengthened his lead.
His teammates Aleksandr Vasilevsky finished second and Aleksei Vishnevsky completed the day’s podium.
Sergei Vyazovich continues to lead overall. KAMAZ-Master’s Anton Shibalov is second with 23 minutes behind and Andrei Karginov third (31 minutes).
Stage 5 from Ulaanbaatar to Mandalgovi is 364km long, with 337km of the Special section.
As it was reported earlier, MAZ-SPORTauto Team set off for the Silk Way Rally across Russia, Mongolia and China in late June. MAZ sport trucks took part in a road show across Russian cities. The race started in Russia's Irkutsk on 6 July and will finish in China’s Dunhuang in 10 days. The route exceeds 5,000km, half of which will be special stages. Belarus has fielded three crews. The race will be a test and evaluation master plan for the Belarusian team ahead of Dakar Rally Raid. The crews will hone their skills, trial the trucks and test many know-hows.
