Lukashenko presents icon to Pope

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and gave him a man-made icon of the Immaculate Heart of Mary as a gift to Pope Francis, BelTA has learned.

The icon was made using the Belarusian Sozh filigree technique. Alexander Lukashenko noted that the icon is valuable for it was created by common people. “This is a proof of our interfaith peace and harmony,” the Belarus President said.
