MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Minsk has become the first city in the European tour of the exhibition, Amber – Jewel of the Baltic Sea, of the National History Museum of Latvia. The exposition has been opened at the National History Museum of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“This exhibition is special for us. It is one of the most successful projects of Riga as the European Capital of Culture “Riga 2014”. The expo tells about the Baltic Sea and the role of amber in the Latvian art,” Latvia’s Ambassador to Belarus Mihails Popkovs said at the opening of the exhibition.
The exposition features Latvian traditional costumes, fibulas, buttons, beads, pendants and many more.
Multimedia technologies will tell about the history of amber and demonstrate unique amber exhibits.
According to Director of the National History Museum of Belarus Oleg Ryzhkov, the organizers of the exposition have put their hearts and souls into this work. “All the items are museum exhibits, which happens quite rarely,” he stressed.
The exhibition, Amber – Jewel of the Baltic Sea, will stay open at the National History Museum of Belarus through 24 April.
