MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) - Works of Polish artist Kanuty Rusiecki will be displayed at the museum of the Mir Castle complex. The exhibition featuring 27 sketches and paintings from the 1844-1846 album “Novogrudok Through the Eyes of Kanuty Rusiecki” will open on 26 July, BelTA learnt from the museum administration.

According to Deputy Director for Scientific and Educational Work of the Mir Castle complex Andrei Yenushkevich, Kanuty Rusiecki’s album is of great scientific importance because it shows the everyday life of the people of Lithuanian and Belarusian towns, villages and hamlets. “The book includes a picture of Mir Castle which is relatively unknown in Belarus. This work was the forefather of the tradition to reflect the castle and Belarusian ancient architecture in the romantic style,” Andrei Yenushkevich said.

The book is a collection of graphic and watercolor paintings. Kanuty Rusiecki created a considerable part of this album when visiting Novogrudok, Nesvizh, Snov and Mir.

Kanuty Rusiecki is a Polish painter who lived and worked in Lithuania creating pictures in the classicism and romanticism style. Most of his pictures represent landscape and portrait painting. Some of his works relate to religious themes. Over 300 of his works are kept in the Lithuanian Art Museum and exhibited in the Vilnius Picture Gallery. However, the fate of many of his works is still unknown.
